Mitsubishi Eclipse
A Mitsubishi
with an American Touch
The
sporty Eclipse, first released in 1989, was a high performance creation
born out of a joint development between Mitsubishi Motors Corporation
and MMMA (Mitsubishi Motor Manufacturing of America, Inc.), formerly
Diamond Star Motors. The same year it received the "Industrial Design
Excellence Award" from the Industrial Design Society of America.
The Eclipse, while harnessing the latest in innovative technologies
and ergonomic comfort features, is designed to appeal to a variety
of users with different lifestyles and budgets. The new generation
Eclipse boasts a low-slung aerodynanic design, an aggressive rear
spoiler and fog lamps. To assure sports car like handling, the Eclipse
incorporates a sophisticated 4IS (four-wheel independent suspension),
speed-sensitive power assisted rack and pinion steering and power
assisted ventilated front brakes with an optional ABS(Anti-lock
Braking System).

The
Eclipse GSX models high performace power comes from a turbocharged,
2.0 liter, DOHC multi-valve engine which has a maximum output of
210ps. This power is transmitted via either a smooth action manual
transmission or a 4-speed automatic transmission featuring a "fuzzy
logic". The Eclipse's performance more than lives up to its name
without costing an arm and a leg.
