  • A Sony sound system with smartphone mirroring capability is now standard.

JOHANNESBURG – Mitsubishi are giving their evergreen Triton the Shogun treatment, which encompasses a variety of unique touches and additional functional equipment. This limited-edition model is sure to appeal to enthusiasts while continuing to offer excellent value.

“The Triton remains a top seller for Mitsubishi in South Africa with buyers continually attracted to its unique styling, excellent performance and pedigree that has been honed in the world of motorsport along with legendary off-road capability, all characteristics that are now highlighted by the unique Shogun touches,” says Jeffrey Allison, General Manager: Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA).

Up top the roof rails are finished in a matching dark hue while a bespoke Shogun sports bar presides over the load bin which is finished with a tonneau cover and tailgate lock. The rear lights feature similar matt black covers and a tow bar is fitted as standard. A matching nudge bar is available as an optional extra.

The bespoke treatment continues to the interior where the Triton Shogun features  a leather steering wheel, parking brake and floor console finished with black and red stitching. The leather seats and door trim have also been treated to red leather stitching.

Legendary off-road capability amplified

The Mitsubishi Triton is well known for its go anywhere off-road capability, a factor that is further amplified by the fitment of Dunlop A/T 265/60R18 all-terrain tyres to the black alloy wheels.

The Triton’s off-road capability is underpinned by Mitsubishi’s legendary Super Select II 4WD system that ensures surefooted driving across any surface. When traversing slippery terrain, the system transfers power to the wheels with grip instantaneously. Selectable off-road mode maximises traction by offering a variety of modes including Gravel, Mud/Snow or Sand when in 4hLc to suit surface conditions and optimise engine output, transmission settings and braking for superior traction. Rock mode can be engaged in 4LLc. Boasting 220mm of ground clearance, approach and departure angles of 31 and 29 degrees respectively and a 25-degree ramp breakover angle the Triton has the credentials to tackle any obstacle.

Tried and tested features at its core

Doing duty under the bonnet is Mitsubishi’s tried and tested 2.4L DOHC MIVEC diesel engine. Offering 133kW at 3 500r/min and 430Nm at 2 500r/min it is mated to a smooth shifting six-speed automatic transmission that features Intelligent Shift Control.

“This combination ensures a driving experience and power delivery that it is just right and always in the sweet spot, ensuring effortless performance as a daily driver, workhorse or overlanding companion, along with frugal fuel consumption,” adds Allison.

Infotainment improvements

The interior of the Triton offers a great combination of a robust design finished with high-quality materials across all touch points. In the Shogun a comprehensive interior specification is bolstered by the fitment of a Sony car audio system complete with Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring functionality.

As with the entire Triton range, the Triton Shogun is covered by Mitsubishi’s manufacturer’s warranty of three years or 100 000km, a five-year/90 000km service plan and five-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance. Service intervals are every 10 000km.

Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield front design creates a substantial presence that is accentuated by LED front foglamps, LED sequential turn signals, and daytime running lights as well as a front skid plate, rear spoiler, and LED high-mounted brake light.

Under the bonnet

All derivatives are powered by the same 2.5-litre Duel VVT DOHC engine that utilises Direct Injection to produce an exceptional 135kW at 6 000rpm and 245Nm at 3 600rpm. A central feature of the interior is a 12,3-inch Digital Driver Display, this is complimented by either an eight-inch Smartphone link display or a nine-inch Smartphone-Link display with navigation, depending on the model chosen. All derivatives feature Apple CarPlay and Android Auto smartphone mirroring capability.

Built around Mitsubishi Motor’s RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) body structure, the Outlander features ultra-high tensile strength steel around the passenger compartment, which is further bolstered by an impact-absorbing front body structure and high-durability, low-deformation passenger compartment structure. All derivatives are fitted with seven airbags, ABS, Electronic Brakeforce Distribution, Emergency Stop signal system, Hill Start Assist, and Hill Descent Control as well as Active Stability and Traction Control.

Sporting icon Bongi Mbonambi hooks up with the legendary Mitsubishi Pajero Sport

  • Mitsubishi Motors SA are teaming up with Bongi Mbonambi.
  • The partnership will see the double Rugby World Cup winner drive a Mitsubishi Pajero Sport.
  • Like Mbonambi the Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is a true sporting legend in its own right.

BALLITO – Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has handed over a brand new Pajero Sport to Rugby World Cup winning Springbok Bongi Mbonambi. The handover took place following the culmination of the Springboks Trophy tour at Mitsubishi Motors Ballito.

Bongi Mbonambi is known for his strength and talent in the position of hooker. A formidable rugby player that made an impact thanks to his strong defensive abilities and overall imposing physicality was crucial in securing the World Cup win for the Springboks both in 2019 and in the latest 2023 Rugby World Cup.

Similarly, the Mitsubishi Pajero nameplate is synonymous with strength and reliability and is one of the models that truly helped establish the brand. Like Mbonambi it is a true legend, owning the title of the most successful vehicle in the history of the Dakar Rally, with a total of 12 wins, including seven consecutive victories.

“Like the rest of South Africa, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa are over the moon with what the Springboks achieved and are proud to partner with double Rugby World Cup winner Mbonambi by sponsoring him with a brand-new Mitsubishi Pajero Sport,” says Jeffrey Allison, General Manager: Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA).

“We feel that the iconic Mitsubishi Pajero Sport, that is renowned for its off-road prowess as well as DNA that was morphed with the Pajero and the motorsport success which that model enjoyed perfectly suits a robust and impactful player like Mbonambi and we trust that it will transport him and his family across many happy miles and to much more rugby success,” adds Allison.

Modern styling and unrivalled off-road ability

The Pajero Sport is visually appealing thanks to the Dynamic Shield front grille that ensures a stylish modern look. This is paired with LEDheadlamps, daytime running lights, fog lamps and cornering lamps. From the side, 18-inch alloy wheel designs and repositioned side steps perfectly enhance the design. The rear features an improved design incorporating LED rear combination lamps, rear park distance control and a rear spoiler as standard.

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport is powered by Mitsubishi’s 2.4 litre MIVEC four-cylinder intercooled turbodiesel engine that offers 133kW and 430Nm. Power is transferred to the wheels via an eight-speed automatic transmission. Mitsubishi’s Super Select 4WD-II system allows drivers to tackle challenging terrain with confidence. Four selectable off-road modes including 2H, 4H, 4HLc (4WD High range with centre diff locked), 4LLc (4WD Low range with CD locked) ensure optimal engine output, transmission settings and braking for superior traction over challenging surface conditions. The result is that the Pajero Sport boasts impressive off-road credentials including an approach angle of 30 degrees, departure angle of 24.2 degrees and a 23.1 degree ramp breakover angle.

Modern high-tech interior

The Mitsubishi Pajero Sport boasts a high-tech, well-appointed interior that is perfect for a World Cup winning Springbok. With seven seats the Pajero Sport offers a unique package as it combines real off-road ability with luxury on road comfort for the whole family.

Active safety features include active stability and traction control, ABS, EBD and an emergency brake assist system. • Mitsubishi Motors SA have rewarded Rugby World Cup winner Ox’ Nché with a Triton Xtreme.
  • Like Nché the Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme strikes a great balance between work and play.
  • The Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme represents the ultimate iteration of a double-cab bakkie.

BALLITO – World Cup Winning Springbok prop Ox’ Nché has chosen to partner with Mitsubishi Motors South Africa. Nché was rewarded with a Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme at a handover ceremony that took place at Mitsubishi Motors Ballito only a few days after the Springboks clinched the William Webb Ellis Trophy for the second consecutive time.

Retshegofaditswe ‘Ox’ Nché got his nickname thanks to the power he brings to the scrum on breakdowns and first made his Springbok debut against Wales in 2018. This powerful loosehead prop has been a fixture of the Springbok squad since.

Have your cake and eat it

Most recently Nché gained notoriety for his witty Instagram captions, “Salads don’t win scrums” alongside images of him indulging in his favourite pieces of cake.

While the Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme is an extremely capable vehicle, like Nché, it is not afraid to have a little fun.

“Following an impressive Rugby World Cup Win Ox’ Nché deserves to have his cake and eat it and Mitsubishi Motors are proud to support thisimpressive Springboks player with a Triton Xtreme,” says Jeffrey Allison, General Manager: Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA).

“The Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme is the ultimate iteration of Mitsubishi’s 4×4 double cab aimed at owners with an adventurous, extreme lifestyle making it perfect for an individual like Ox Nché,” adds Allison.

Xtreme derivative represents the ultimate iteration of Mitsubishi’s Triton

The Triton Xtreme offers an attractive, bold and adventurous look and a variety of additional equipment to take its already impressive off-roadabilities to new heights, resulting in the ultimate iteration of the Mitsubishi Triton double cab.

The Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme is sure to turn heads thanks to a host of visual improvements all round. Complimenting the Dynamic Shield front design concept is a distinctive new black bumper and grill combo as well as bonnet protector and headlight covers.

Xtreme branding, 4×4 decals, door handle cups, roof rack supports, window visors, taillight covers and a Kekosport style bar in black are all functional and add to the more aggressive look.

The cherry on the cake is the fender flare kit complete with visible bolt fittings, giving the Triton Xtreme a wider, more aggressive stance. These wider arches are filled with A-line alloy wheels in black shod with rugged All-Terrain tyres.

The load box of the Triton Xtreme features professionally applied rubberising and a tonneau cover that keeps contents hidden from prying eyes. A Bosal tow bar completes the enhancements to the rear of the vehicle.

The Mitsubishi Triton Xtreme boasts a luxury, comfortable cabin. Highlights include frame surroundings for the switch panel and air outlets, while a high-quality look is created by soft pad materials and stitching on the floor console, armrests and parking brake. The tilt and telescopic adjustable steering wheel is finished in leather and incorporates multi-function controls for the audio system and cruise control. Bluetooth and smartphone mirroring capabilities via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto will ensure that Nché remains connected and can listen to his favourite tunes seamlessly.

All Mitsubishi Triton 4WD models are fitted with Mitsubishi’s latest Super-Select II 4WD system, which delivers optimum traction and handling across a variety of surface conditions. On automatic transmission derivatives like the Triton Xtreme this system incorporates an off-road mode which includes Gravel, Mud/Snow, Sand and Rock settings. When engaged, off-road mode tailors engine power, transmission and braking to regulate the amount of wheel slip, maximizing all-terrain performance and self-extraction performance.

The Triton Xtreme boasts Mitsubishi’s advanced RISE (Reinforced Impact Safety Evolution) Body Construction that utilises crumple zones to route and absorb energy during high-impact collisions. Side impact protection bars, Isofix and a seven-airbag system are in place for increased safety. Electronic off-road assistance enhances the Super Select II 4WD system by means of Hill Descent Control for additional safety off the road. Mitsubishi Motors SA rewarded for enormous rental and leasing performance leap

Mitsubishi Motors SA rewarded for enormous rental and leasing performance leap

  • Mitsubishi Motors SA was the most improved brand in this year’s SAVRALA MOTY survey.
  • The SAVRALA MOTY survey judges’ performance in the rental and leasing industry.
  • Mitsubishi Motors SA to use feedback from this survey to further refine their offering to this segment of the market.

JOHANNESBURG – Mitsubishi Motors South Africa have in recent times made the expansion of their fleet focused product offering a priority. Along with the launch of the Diamond fleet club which offers members with unmatched aftersales support and service, Mitsubishi expanded the product range to include single cab models. This entry level Triton single cab model provides fleet owners with quality, reliability, durability and fuel efficiency resulting in a cost-effective solution in the face of rising fuel prices and repo rates. This was followed by fleet focused double-cab derivatives such as the Triton GL and GLX double cab that offer many of the advantages of Mitsubishi’s Triton double cab at a price point that makes it an ideal fleet purchase. In addition, the Mitsubishi Xpander panel van is a unique solution that combines MPV like qualities with secure load carrying ability.

These efforts have been noticed by the industry, who have voted with their wallets and now by the members of SAVRALA too.

At the 28th edition of the South African Vehicle Rental and Leasing Association (SAVRALA) Manufacturer of the Year Awards (MOTY), Mitsubishi Motors SA walked away with an award for the Automotive Member that has improved the most on their previous year’s performance.

The SAVRALA MOTY awards are purely performance based and are determined through two surveys conducted by Lightstone with 37 car rental and leasing companies in South Africa, covering rental and leasing performance. These surveys gauge fleet customers interactions with the manufacturers that they frequently deal with and whose vehicles are part of their fleets. Most importantly, participating rental and leasing companies are required to involve all the relevant people in their operations who are knowledgeable about each of the criterion to complete the various sections of the surveys, resulting in a very accurate set of results.

“In more recent years Mitsubishi Motors SA set a number of goals with the aim of taking the brand to new heights. These goals included a clearstrategy on becoming the mobility partner of choice to businesses of all sizes. This saw us refine our commercial vehicle offering and the aftersales value proposition for fleet clients. To be rewarded by SAVRALA as the most improved manufacturer shows that Mitsubishi Motors SA are making great strides in these areas,” says Nic Campbell, General Manager: Sales at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA).

In the rental category of the competition, manufacturers are judged on criteria including communication, support, maintenance, value, theftprevention and B-BBEE and Mitsubishi improved considerably in all these categories resulting in an overall improvement, across all categories of 12.0%.

Some of Mitsubishi’s biggest improvements recorded were in categories such as the availability of parts and the waiting time for a service which is testament to Mitsubishi’s ongoing collective effort by aftersales staff and the dealer network who continue to embody the spirit of continuous improvement.

In the leasing category Mitsubishi again performed admirably with vast improvements in many of the sub sectors of the scoring criteria whichinclude communication, technical support, financial categories, dealer performance and B-BBEE.

“SAVRALA shares detailed results of the annual survey with participating manufacturers and these scores across the variety of judging criteria have been a great tool in assisting Mitsubishi to improve our operations related to the rental and leasing customer journey,” says Campbell.

“Mitsubishi are always innovating with the goal of giving all our customers, whether they are walking into a dealership and new to the brand or have a long-standing relationship with us, as many of our fleet and leasing customers do, the best possible experience when interacting with our brand throughout the ownership journey,” adds Campbell.

Mitsubishi continue to offer an extremely competitive product line up across a variety of criteria including reliability, safety, innovation and total cost of ownership all of which remain priorities that appeal to a wide variety of customers including fleet and leasing clients.

“At Mitsubishi we always believe that there is room for growth, and we hope to continue to improve across all facets of our business by offering the latest in terms of product along with the dealer network, sales staff and after sales back up that all our customers deserve,” concludes Campbell.

Mitsubishi to offer unrivalled value for money for lifestyle buyers with Limited Edition Triton GLX

Mitsubishi to offer unrivalled value for money for lifestyle buyers with Limited Edition Triton GLX

    • Mitsubishi are reinforcing the value for money proposition of their Triton GL double cab with the addition of a limited edition GLX derivative.
    • The limited edition Mitsubishi Triton GLX offers everything bakkie owners will ever need from a work or leisure vehicle.
    • A tried and tested powerplant offers a great balance between performance and fuel consumption.

JOHANNESBURG – Throughout the lifespan of the current Triton, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa has continued to offer models that cater for the exacting needs of South African customers. This has resulted in a variety of locally developed special edition models including the Triton Xtreme in 2020 and the launch of the Triton GL single and double cab derivatives and the Triton Heritage Edition in 2022. The Triton Xtreme was shown earlier this year at Nampo and just recently the café racer inspired Triton Athlete hit the road in South Africa.

When launched last year Mitsubishi’s Triton GL double cab was aimed at fleet customers and owners of small and medium enterprises (SMEs), but it very quickly found favour with lifestyle customers too, thanks to its accessibility, versatility and bold contemporary styling.

“The launch of the Triton GL has been beneficial in allowing MMSA to offer our customers greater versatility in the commercial vehicle market and attract more of those customers to the Mitsubishi brand,” says Jeffrey Allison, General Manager: Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA).

For these customers the level of specification included along with modern styling and legendary Mitsubishi reliability at a more affordable price point continues to represent a sweet spot in terms of value for money.

“However, it quickly became clear that the value for money proposition that the Triton GL double cab represents appealed to leisure customers as much as it did to those looking for a stylish workhorse. The fitment of a number of choice accessories to the limited edition GLX should cement its position as a vehicle that can fulfil both these roles seamlessly,” says Allison.

Now, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa are launching a GLX double cab that builds on those strengths by refining the product offering with a variety of additional standard specification.

The addition of the choice accessories ensures that the limited edition Triton GLX is ready for anything that a working or lifestyle environment can throw at it.

A great balance of performance and fuel economy

Under the bonnet of the Triton Double Cab GLX is a tried and tested DOHC intercooled turbodiesel engine that boasts 100kW and 324Nm of torque.

The Triton GLX Double Cab utilises a 4×2 drivetrain, limited-slip differential and six-speed manual transmission that is capable of handling a wide variety of work and leisure tasks and doesn’t shy away from light off-roading or gravel road driving.

This engine and drivetrain combination also offers an excellent balance of performance and fuel economy, utilising just 8,0 litres/100km on the combined cycle, which is a real boon giving the record high fuel prices.

As with all Triton models the limited edition GLX rides on a rigid ladder frame chassis, that facilitates excellent handling and stability across a wide variety of road surfaces. Double wishbones with coil springs upfront and leaf spring rear suspension ensures a good combination of comfort and load carrying ability of up to 1-ton. The towing of leisure items or work trailers is now possible thanks to a neatly integrated Triton double tube tow bar.

Ready for work or play

The spacious load bed measures 1 520mm in length, 1 470mmm in width and is 475mm deep. The single rear tailgate handle enables one handed operation and has been upgraded with the Triton Tailgate lock on this model. Load bin contents is now kept out of sight thanks to a Keko Tonneau cover. Adding a touch of style is a black Keko Sport bar.

On the Triton GLX, Mitsubishi’s Dynamic Shield front design is complimented by a Black Triton Low Nudge bar.

Occupant safety is ensured by a high-impact safety structure and airbags for the driver and front passenger.

“The limited edition Triton GLX is a real all-rounder that can fulfil roles as a workhorse and a lifestyle vehicle thanks to a high level of standard specification that allows those looking for a premium double cab, but shopping on a budget to drive a vehicle that can handle their usage requirements while still offering them everything they will need from a double cab,” concludes Allison.

Women are key to the ongoing success of Mitsubishi Motors SA

  • Women play an integral role in the various departments at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA).
  • MMSA celebrated women’s month by showcasing what women have achieved within their company.
  • MMSA pride themselves on a culture of inclusivity and diversity.

JOHANNESBURG – During women’s month, Mitsubishi Motors South Africa celebrated the many women that form part of their critical staff compliment. A key strategy within the Mitsubishi Motors South Africa business is their commitment to empowering and elevating women within their organisation

“At Mitsubishi Motors South Africa we pride ourselves in the fact that we continuously create a working environment that fosters inclusivity and allows people of all genders, and from all walks of life an equal opportunity to follow a successful career in the automotive industry,” says Thato Magasa, Managing Director of Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA).

Within the larger Mitsubishi Motors South Africa organisation women fulfil a variety of roles with great success, many of which were reserved for men in the past.

“Mitsubishi’s staff compliment includes a large number of woman who fulfil a variety of roles across the company. Through these testimonials we hope that we can inspire other women to pursue a career in the automotive industry,” adds Magasa.

Felicia Sono – Customer care manager

Customer care manager Felicia Sono has vast experience in customer service and training in the automotive industry that spans 16 years.

“In my current role I support and mentor the customer care team, which includes training and mentoring staff to enhance productivity. We really need to support the younger generation in achieving their goals,” says Sono.

“Working in a male dominated industry I have seen that certain male customers tend to believe that women don’t know much about the motor industry and can be very reluctant to accept the feedback that you give back to them. They will prefer to speak to a male co-worker, who gives them the same feedback which is then accepted as the truth. I expect to be treated with respect and fairness just like anyone else in the organisation,” explains Sono.

Thabiso Ramatla – Distribution manager

Distribution manager Thabiso Ramatla now has more than 10 years’ experience in the automotive industry. She started out as a graduate and worked her way through the ranks to her current position as distribution manager where she is responsible for inbound and outbound logistics.

“I love working for Mitsubishi because the company allows me to grow, I work with people who are courageous and who are helping me to grow, who are very passionate about the brand and who are always looking forward,” says Ramatla.

“Working in a male dominated industry has been a beautiful journey because the men that I have worked with have pushed me to do my best, they are passionate and help me to improve my skills. This has helped me become more confident in making decisions and delivering on behalf of the brand,” says Ramatla.

Ramatla believes that women are hard workers with integrity who bring unique solutions to the industry, and they make good choices by knowing what to do and when to do it.

“Women are coming on board with skills that allow institutions to be successful and are being recognised based on those skills and the power they carry as women,” concludes Ramatla.

Carmen van Dyk – Financial Director

Financial Director Carmen van Wyk believes that anything is possible, but that the numbers never lie.

“I love life and all its beautiful things, I think it’s important to have a critical understanding of the numbers and their impact on the organisation,” says van Wyk.

“I like working at Mitsubishi as it allows me to grow. I work for a small, fairly young team who are agile and forward thinking. In a smaller organisation like this there is less bureaucracy, and we can make decisions quickly,” adds van Wyk.

“What matters most to me is how you show up and land on a daily basis. I want to be a positive influence, an instrument of change and I believe that I have a sharp eye for identifying and developing talent. I believe in people and in people being treated fairly. When given the platform those people will grow and excel,” says van Wyk.

Van Wyk believes that women should remain feminine and authentic, especially in an industry that is very muscular and outdoorsy. For automotive companies looking to attract a different demographic the feminine influence is very important.

Dalene Bekker – General Manager, Parts

General manager of parts, Dalene Bekker explains that mentorship and support are crucial for women in male dominated industries. “During my 34-year career I sought out the specialists in various areas and learnt from them by shadowing them and learning from the way they do things. Engage with stakeholders, do your research and develop your processes in that way,” says Bekker.

“Women tend to be more analytical, pay more attention to detail, ask more questions and get to the bottom of issues, which makes it easier to establish new processes. These unique strengths and skills that women bring to the parts and distribution industry can be harnessed for greater success,” adds Bekker.

Lebogang Maepa – Warehouse administrator

Warehouse administrator Lebogang Maepa always wanted to be the lady that breaks barriers and changes the whole concept of male domination. This was possible thanks to her passion and determination to learn new things, which has been key to her success to date.

“Women looking to enter the industry shouldn’t be afraid to put themselves out there as women, open their mind and learn everything they can. Be like a sponge and learn as much as possible from the people around you. Go above and beyond and you will get wherever you want to be,” says Maepa.

Mathabo Mapea – Management accountant

Management accountant Mathabo Mapea believes that it is important to foster a culture of collaboration and teamwork among employees, regardless of gender in order to achieve the organisations goals.

“We need to encourage a culture and an environment that is supportive and safe for all employees. We need to create an environment where we know we can express ourselves and our opinions without fear or favour. We are all part of one team, so it is important to create an environment where we are all equal and where we all feel safe and comfortable to do our job and take risks, when necessary,” says Mapea.

“As women we need to come together, encourage one another and form initiatives where we can guide and support each other on how to advance in this industry,” says Mapea.

“Women wanting to pursue a career in the automotive industry should choose a field within the industry that they want to follow and pursue that field with an end goal in mind. They should then do everything in their power including making sure that they continually educate themselves on their path to becoming experts in that chosen field,” adds Mapea.

“During my career in the automotive industry I have learnt that if you pursue and persist you will be able to reach your goals. As women we need to realise that we have the ability to make a positive contribution to this industry, through our innovative and creative ideas,” concludes Mapea.

Melissa Lombard – Admin Manager

Admin Manager Melissa Lombard believes that gender diversity has many benefits that relate to the company’s bottom line. “By embracing gender diversity companies can foster a more innovative and productive work environment. Having both males and females in your team means you benefit by having different points of view and approaches from different life experiences,” says Lombard.

Lombard notes her biggest career achievement to date as when she completed her BBA at the same time as caring for a new-born baby. “Having to complete assignments, study and write exams while on maternity leave is a big achievement in my opinion. That just goes to show how strong and amazing women really are, if we put our minds to it, no matter how tough or challenging, we can accomplish anything,” adds Lombard.

Molly Prakesh – Parts Distribution Manager, Motus

Molly Prakash is the Manager of the Parts Distribution Centre for Motus emerging brands and for her the journey of breaking barriers and entering the parts distribution industry, which is traditionally male dominated, has been fruitful.

“18 years ago I started out in a very male dominated industry but over the years we have seen change. Women are now valued and recognised for their contribution. My focus has always been to do the job. Don’t get distracted by gender or any other form of discrimination,” explains Prakash.

“My belief is that finance is there to support the business in achieving its targets and goals, this motivated me to learn and understand all aspects of business. When I was offered my current position in the parts distribution centre, I saw it as an opportunity to further my career,” says Prakash.

“A change from finance to operations made me realise that I actually enjoyed operations because of its challenges. I love working with the team to try and find solutions in pursuit of achieving daily, monthly and annual targets. I love implementing processes and controls to ensure increased productivity and efficiency,” adds Prakash.

Mitsubishi Triton Athlete Set to Amaze South African Bakkie Customers with Unparalleled Performance and Style

  • The limited-edition Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is now available in SA.
  • The Mitsubishi Triton Athlete boasts several bespoke interior and exterior touches.
  • The Triton Athlete offers bakkie customers a unique vehicle off the showroom floor.

JOHANNESBURG – Mitsubishi are expanding their Triton range with the addition of the Triton Athlete, a limited-edition model that takes the Triton concept to a whole new level.

The Triton remains a key product for Mitsubishi Motors South Africa, a bakkie that has been well received for its combination of sporty styling, excellent performance and legendary capability that allows it to tackle any terrain with ease.

The Triton Athlete is the next model in Mitsubishi’s extensive product rollout and boasts several unique exterior features that are sure to make it stand out in the crowded bakkie market as well as a variety of interior touches that elevate its premium feel significantly.

“South Africa is a bakkie country and local owners love to customise their vehicles, the Triton Athlete caters for that need by offering a  bespoke package to make it stand out whether you are on or off-road,” says Jeffrey Allison, General Manager: Marketing at Mitsubishi Motors South Africa (MMSA).

Based on the Triton 4×4 Automatic, the Triton Athlete is inspired by the Café Racer concept that originated among British motorcycle lovers in London in the 1960s who took inspiration from motorsport to personalise their motorcycles.

The Triton Athlete is immediately noticeable thanks to red touches to the front bumper lower garnish, side-step and rear bumper step that remind of motorsport body kits that featured prominently on legendary models like the Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution.

A comprehensive decal kit inspired by the world of motorsport includes a hood decal, tailgate strip and side stripes featuring the number 01. Adding to the visual appeal of exterior specification upgrades are LED headlamps with black accents and matching daylight running lamps. The Triton Athlete rides on unique black 18-inch alloys.

The motorsport inspired theme is continued in the interior where the leather steering wheel, parking brake and floor console feature black and red stitching. Unique leather seats and door trim have also been treated to red leather stitching.

While the Mitsubishi Triton Athlete is differentiated by a variety of bespoke aesthetic touches this model retains all of the performance and legendary off-road capability that Mitsubishi vehicles are renowned for.

Under the bonnet is the same 2.4L DOHC MIVEC Diesel engine that has the performance to match the unique styling elements. Boasting 133kW at 3 500 r/min and 430Nm at 2 500r/min it is paired with a smooth shifting six-speed automatic transmission that features Intelligent Shift Control.

Endowing the Triton with go anywhere capability is Mitsubishi’s legendary Super Select II 4WD system that ensures optimum traction and handling on any surface. The system does not rely on driver input but instead transfers power to the wheels with grip instantaneously. In addition, the selectable off-road mode maximises traction by allowing the driver to select from Gravel, Mud/Snow or Sand modes when in 4hLc to suit surface conditions and optimise engine output, transmission settings and braking for superior traction. An additional Rock setting can be engaged in 4LLc. With ground clearance of 220mm, approach and departure angles of 31 and 29 degrees and a 25-degree ramp breakover angle the Triton is ready to tackle any obstacle.

“The Mitsubishi Triton Athlete offers customers a bakkie that embodies Mitsubishi’s philosophy of creating products that provide safety, comfort and quality while a number of unique features elevate the characteristic styling and athleticism, resulting in a truly unique offering,” concludes Allison.

As with all Triton models the Triton Athlete is covered by Mitsubishi’s manufacturer’s warranty of three years or 100 000km, a five-year/90 000km service plan and five-year/unlimited mileage roadside assistance. Service intervals are every 10 000km.
