Drive your ambition to the golf course with the Mitsubishi Motors Golf Day and JOE lil’brary

Driving your ambition gets a new twist early in March with the Mitsubishi Motors Golf Day in support of the exciting new JOE lil’brary.

Mitsubishi Motors South Africa invites golfers to a worthy cause, the Mitsubishi Motors Golf Day, and help share the joy of reading with children by assisting JOE lil’brary.

JOE lil’brary is a rather unique but extremely clever concept to help children read books rather than stare at screens, and Mitsubishi Motors South Africa jumped at the opportunity to support this fantastic cause.

The JOE lil’brary is literally that – a little library in a box.

Containing a collection of books depending on the size of the lil’brary, sponsorships cost from R1 779 to R1 899. The miniature library is aimed at crèches, preschools and even primary schools.

“As Mitsubishi Motors focuses on family wellbeing as far as our products and safety are concerned, we think this is a great way to support children for ‘Less Screen Time, More Storybook Time’, as the organisers, Just One Earth (JOE), describe the project,” says Nic Campbell, General Manager of Mitsubishi Motors South Africa.

The Golf Day will be played in a Better Ball format and Mitsubishi Motors invites teams of four players at a cost of R4 900, including carts, halfway house, dinner and the prize giving. Even if you don’t play, sponsor a hole relatively inexpensively and join the fun.

Actress Milan Murray, who helps running the project, says children miss out on “downtime” so prevalent in the past where they might have picked up a book. “Now screens fill their time,” she says.

“The result is that children who don’t read for pleasure have decreased concentration, memory, confidence, lower self-esteem and general knowledge. Reading builds empathy, improves imagination and language development. Reading for pleasure is the single biggest indicator of a child’s success academically – more than social background or parents’ education.”

The Mitsubishi Motors Golf Day will be held on 8 March 2019 at the Observatory Golf Club in Bedfordview, Gauteng, with the first tee-off time at 11:00. Great prizes are up for grabs.

“We are proud to be part of this project to share the joy of reading with children and invite all our friends and clients to join us on 8 March 2019. Let’s assist and inspire children to fall in love with books.” concludes Campbell.
